Ten Ways to Be More Energy Efficient

1. Replace burned out incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs.

2. Replace T-12 fluorescent lights with T-8 fluorescent fixtures.

3. Make sure windows and doors are weather stripped or caulked to stop air infiltration.

4. Bring attic insulation up to desired level (R-38).

5. Make sure heating and cooling filters are clean.

6. Replace thermostats with programmable thermostats.

7. Set water heater setting to a minimum desired temperature.

8. Install an insulation blanket on your electric water heater; also, wrap the first 3 to 6 feet of hot water supply pipe with pipe insulation.

9. Make sure refrigerator and freezer doors close tightly.

10. Replace outdoor lights with High Pressure Sodium or Metal Halide lights.
